The Body Is Not An Apology: The Impact of Sexism and Sizeism on Our Bodies and Health

As part of Community Leaders in Health Equity and in partnership with Transformative Alliances LLC, on Oct. 6, 2021, Sonya Renee Taylor (she, her, hers), founder and radical executive officer of The Body is Not An Apology, delved into an exploration of sizeism and fatphobia as well as patriarchy and sexism, side-by-side with other oppressions and considerations of health and health equity. Taylor shared personal stories as well as key elements from her book The Body Is Not An Apology: The Power of Radical Self Love to help attendees better understand the concept of the “default body,” disrupting the oppression-based body hierarchy, and embracing radical self-love.
