2012 Annual Report

We’re pleased to share with you The Colorado Trust’s latest annual report. Our streamlined, online 2012 report provides a snapshot in time account of the remarkable work of our partners, together with the foundation’s consideration of future work.

In our fifth year of supporting myriad efforts to advance access to health, we had nearly 50 multi-faceted grant strategies underway. These ranged from short-term, timely efforts, such as our Convening for Colorado grants, to long-term supports like the Colorado Health Access Survey (CHAS) that provides robust data to pinpoint health coverage, access and utilization challenges and informs potential solutions.

On a parallel track, we undertook an in-depth exploration of the extent to which health inequity affects access to health in Colorado. As we reported in Findings from The Colorado Trust’s Environmental Scan, we learned that many Coloradans understand there to be differences in health care that people receive in our state based solely on their race, ethnicity, income or where they live, and they believe it important that everyone be provided with fair and equitable opportunities to achieve good health. With this information, The Trust is moving toward a re-focusing of our vision to more intently advance health equity. We look forward to sharing more specifics about this evolution over the coming months.

I invite you to read our annual report, including the terrific grantee stories highlighting the differences being made in improving the health and well-being of many Coloradans. I also encourage you to share our report with others who also might help to make our state a place where all Coloradans have equitable opportunities that allow them to live a long, healthy life.
