Overview

The Colorado Trust is seeking to increase and improve access to quality mental and behavioral health care for those who face barriers to living a long and healthy life. The purpose of this initiative is to fund entities to support the expansion of mental and behavioral health services to reach new, underserved or historically marginalized populations.

A Little Help

Support for expanding mental health services for older adults, aiming to reduce social isolation and provide access to care through various activities, including social gatherings, care visits and grief groups, and for partnering with community organizations to offer free mental health counseling, group therapy and educational workshops.

Alianza NORCO

Support for improving the mental and physical health, economic stability and community integration of immigrants from low-income households by offering peer support groups, health insurance enrollment and debt navigation, women’s health referrals and other support services.

Ardent Grove Foundation

Support for a partnership between the Ardent Grove Foundation and the Eating Disorder Foundation providing low-cost trauma-informed mental health care, specialized training, clinical supervision and wraparound services for people with eating disorders, disordered eating and body image issues.

Support for providing behavioral health navigation and coordination, harm reduction services, Mental Health First Aid training and other behavioral health initiatives for residents and visitors, especially those from underserved populations.

Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence

Support for recruiting and supporting 10 psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner students from underserved communities and providing them with funding, coaching and job placement assistance so that they can serve as providers in their own or similar marginalized communities.

Dream Catcher Therapy Center, Inc.

Support for establishing a pipeline for new mental health counselors in rural parts of the state by providing medical supervision for licensed professional counselor candidates and therapy interns, and salaries for interns, a clinic manager and a medical director.

Support for expanding access to behavioral health services for underserved communities, particularly Spanish-speaking populations, via a mobile resource bus, delivering bilingual and culturally competent care, referrals and partnerships with local providers.

Gunnison Valley Health Foundation

Support for providing school-based therapy services to address students’ mental health needs in Gunnison Valley by funding salaries for five clinical therapists to utilize evidence-based interventions and prevention strategies, and offering tailored mental health support and therapy for students and their families.

Healthy Archuleta

Support for expanding mental and behavioral health care access for Spanish-speaking households by training primary care providers in culturally sensitive practices, developing a referral system for households, providing training for bilingual navigators and supporting them getting certified as medical interpreters, increasing access and use of telehealth services in multiple languages, and establishing access to a bilingual mental health provider.

Support for expanding a program providing school-based mental and behavioral health services for youth who face barriers to access (particularly those from marginalized communities) by offering individual and group therapy, professional development for school staff and collaboration with specialized community partners.

Support for providing a behavioral telehealth program, including creating two behavioral telehealth spaces in Walsenburg and Trinidad, to increase access and quality of behavioral health services for youth, adults and people with substance use disorders.

Support for training five bilingual play therapists serving the Spanish-speaking immigrant community, providing no-cost play and family therapy sessions to migrant children and their families, and supervision and certification for trainees.
