Health Equity and the Social Determinants of Health

On July 25th, 2013, The Colorado Trust hosted a Learning Lunch featuring Adewale Troutman, MD, associate dean of health equity and community engagement at  University of South Florida and past president of the American Public Health Association. Over more than 40 years, Dr. Troutman has studied and worked to advance health equity and eliminate racism and other social injustices. Founder of the nation’s first Center for Health Equity in Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellbeing, Dr. Troutman is featured in the documentary, Unnatural causes; Is inequality making us sick?.

Dr. Troutman shared insights about how social determinants of health affect health, and what we can do to address these factors.
