Angelica Valdez

Angelica brings more than two decades of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, grantmaking, and community engagement to The Colorado Trust. A longtime resident of Colorado’s San Luis Valley, she brings a rural perspective and a deep commitment to ensuring that communities have meaningful opportunities to shape the decisions and investments that affect them. At The Trust, her work has focused on building relationships with grantees and community partners across Colorado, supporting community-driven approaches to health equity, and strengthening philanthropic practices that respond to local needs.

Before joining The Trust, Angelica spent much of her career expanding educational opportunities for first-generation and low-income students and providing training and technical assistance to federally funded programs nationwide. As a first-generation college graduate, she draws on her professional and lived experiences to shape her approach to philanthropy, leadership, and community partnership. She is especially interested in rural philanthropy, culturally responsive mental and behavioral health, education, organizational leadership, and strengthening the relationship between funders and the communities they serve.

Angelica remains deeply connected to the San Luis Valley and the philanthropic community across Colorado. Outside of work, she helps with her family’s farm and ranch operation.
