The Colorado Trust Grants 10 Northeast Colorado Nonprofits via Rural Philanthropy Days

The Colorado Trust, a private statewide foundation dedicated to ensuring all people living in Colorado have the opportunity to thrive, has granted $100,000 to 10 nonprofit organizations ($10,000 each) in northeast Colorado as part of the July 2026 iteration of Rural Philanthropy Days. 

Rural Philanthropy Days connects funders with nonprofit organizations and government agencies that serve rural Colorado. The biannual event was created in 1991 by the Community Resource Center (CRC) and the Anschutz Family Foundation to strengthen nonprofit-funder relations and address critical needs in rural Colorado communities. The RPD event returned in 2026 after being on hiatus in 2025.  

The July 2026 Northeast Rural Philanthropy Days convened nonprofit and funder representatives from Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick and Washington counties. The Colorado Trust awarded general operating grants of $10,000 to each of the following organizations: 

• Prairie Family Center: Serves as a trusted community-based resource in a rural frontier area, providing education and resources in an inclusive environment to help support healthy, functional families. 

• Kids At Their Best: Provides education, job training, food and other services to more than 600 children across Colorado’s Eastern Plains, focusing on creating long-term economic mobility and opportunity. 

• Grassroots Community Center: Provides inclusive programming and a central gathering space for all ages in the communities of Cope, Joes and Kirk, Colo. 

• SARA House: Provides comprehensive crisis intervention, advocacy and healing services for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence across the Thirteenth Judicial District of northeastern Colorado. 

• The Arc of Northeast Colorado: Provides advocacy, services and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in rural northeast Colorado communities. 

• Little Sprouts Learning Center: Ensures parents and caregivers can remain in the workforce while their children are in a safe, nurturing and educational environment, as the only fully licensed and operational child care provider in Phillips County at present. 

• Limon Child Development Center / Limon Head Start: Provides child care and early childhood education for children ages 3-5 in a northeast Colorado community.  

• Foster Love Closet & Support: Provides free clothing, hygiene products and other essential resources to individuals and families in need, regardless of their background or circumstances.  

• Baby Bear Hugs: Provides parenting education and family support via a voluntary home visitation program, serving expectant parents and families with children under age five across nine rural and frontier counties in eastern Colorado. 

• Rural Communities Resource Center: Strengthens the economic stability of rural families by ensuring consistent access to nutritious, culturally relevant food while connecting households to a broader network of community resources.
