 Trust Hosts Health Disparities Learning Lunch
Dr. Thomas LaVeist, nationally renowned health disparities expert.The Colorado Trust's July Learning Lunch featured nationally renowned health disparities expert Dr. Thomas LaVeist, Director of the Center for Health Disparities Solutions, and Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Numerous studies show that racial and ethnic health disparities continue to exist throughout the health care system. The Colorado Trust's seven-year (2005-2012), $13.1 million Equality in Health initiative seeks to significantly strengthen efforts underway in Colorado to reverse this trend. Under this effort, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions across the state are working to bring about improvements in equality in treatment in medical services, equal access to care, equal environmental conditions, and/or healthy behaviors among racial and ethnic minorities.
