  Sanluisvalleyhealth.org has changed their name and their website to gethealthyslv.org. and are continuing to work with Conejos County students. GetHealthySLV.org is a project of the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center and funded by The Colorado Trust as one of 14 organizations across Colorado to receive grant funding for a new statewide project.

  Last year, Coloradans with dental complaints went to emergency rooms 39,000 times – even though they could have been pain-free if they had simply stayed on top of regular cleaning and maintenance, according to the Colorado Dental Association. Numbers from the latest Colorado Health Access Survey, conducted by the Colorado Health Institute, show that 40 percent of Coloradans do not have dental insurance. The same percentage skipped going to the dentist last year.

  The number of Coloradans without dental insurance jumped by 17 percent - 300,000 people - over two years and widened a troubling ethnic gap, with more than half of Latinos reporting no coverage, according to a broad study by The Colorado Trust.

  The Colorado Trust reported that the results of a new Colorado Health Access Survey shows that more than half of Hispanics in the state do not have dental insurance. The overall number of people in the state without dental insurance grew 17 percent in in two years.
